Austin Floral Arrangements & Gifts Delivery ~ Sending Flowers anywhere in the Continental USA

What is the best way to care for a flower arrangement?
It depends on how they arrive. If you receive flowers with floral foam in the container - be certain the container is full of water every day. Using your finger, feel under the greens for a place where water can be added. Or you can pour water slowly into the center of the arrangement, either by keeping a finger in the container to gauge the water level or by placing the container in a sink before adding the water. When using the sink method, tip the arrangement slightly to drain a small amount of the water before returning it to its place of viewing. If you receive flowers in a vase -check to be sure the water is always clear. If the water turns cloudy, empty it and replace with fresh water. If possible, re-cut the stems before placing them in the fresh water. If you receive flowers in a box or tissue - mix-up the floral food, supplied by your florist, according to the directions. Cut the stems and place immediately into the prepared vase of food and water, remove all of the foliage that falls below the water line.No matter what type of arrangement you have, it is important to keep your flowers off of televisions, appliances and heating/cooling units. You should also keep them away from hot or cold drafts and out of direct sunlight.

FAQ#6: Arrangement in Sunshine?

Since flowers like sunshine, should I put my arrangement in the sun when I get it?

No. This could be the number one reason why flower arrangements do not last as long as possible. Growing flowers require sunshine for maturing, but cut flowers will fade much faster if exposed to heat and direct sunlight. To keep flowers fresh longer, place them in a location away from sun and drafts. Some types of flowers will fade much faster than others. Simply remove the fading flowers from the arrangement and enjoy the longer life of the remaining flowers.
